In just nine unforgettable days, we bring you the heart of the classic EBC trek, elevated by a private helicopter flight over Gokyo Lakes and luxury lodge recovery. At high altitude, the journey unfolds with purpose, framed by breathtaking scenery and a deep immersion into Sherpa culture. Intense, dedicated, and unforgettable, this is the perfect way to experience Everest without committing to a full month.

What sets this trek apart is how we maximise time in the Himalayas. While standard EBC treks take 14–18 days, we streamline the return journey with a private helicopter. You’ll still trek to Base Camp and summit Kala Patar, but instead of retracing your steps, we take to the air – flying over the incredible Gokyo Lakes region, with views of Cho Oyu and the Ngozumpa Glacier, before returning to Kathmandu.

Activity Grade: MEDIUM

This is a trek, not a climb - there are no ropes, no crampons, no ice axes. The terrain can be challenging, but it doesn’t require technical mountaineering skills. Over six consecutive days, you’ll cover 7–10km each day, pushing through stunning landscapes, before a dramatic helicopter extraction from Gorakshep.

While the trek is high-altitude, reaching 5550m, it’s still accessible for those with a solid level of cardiovascular fitness and trekking endurance. You’ll be on your feet for 4–7 hours most days, with a light day pack and altitude to challenge your lungs. Acclimatisation days are placed after every two days of trekking to help your body adjust to the higher elevations.

Comfort levels are simple but inviting, with cosy teahouses where you’ll rest each night. While the mountain lodges are modest, we enhance your experience with premium touches, including 5-star hotels in Kathmandu, private helicopter flights, and comfortable road transport. This is a physically demanding adventure, not a technical one, and with the right preparation, it’s a highly achievable and incredibly rewarding journey.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrive in Kathmandu. Private car transfer to hotel

Namaste, and welcome to Nepal. On arrival in Kathmandu, your Mountain Tribe guides will meet you at the airport and transfer you by private vehicle to the 5-star Yak & Yeti Hotel. After a long flight from Australia, this first day is about grounding, resetting, and preparing for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 | Welcome briefing & dinner in Kathmandu

Your first full day begins with a welcome briefing led by your Mountain Tribe guides. You’ll finalise gear, connect with fellow trekkers, and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel. In the evening, we come together for a group dinner along with our Nepalese support crew - setting the tone for the adventure ahead.

Day 3 | Guided Kathmandu city walking tour

The day begins with a guided walking tour through two of Kathmandu’s cultural treasures. You’ll hike to the sacred Swayambhunath stupa (aka Monkey Temple) - perched above the city with sweeping views and explore the history-rich Durbar Square. The afternoon is yours to relax or grab any final trek essentials.

Day 4 | Trek begins. Heli to Phakding – 50 mins flight

We begin with a stunning 45-minute private helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, then board another to Phakding (2610m). After a late breakfast at our teahouse, we settle in for the day. Phakding sits along the Dudh Kosi River, offering the group a chance to head out for a short acclimatisation hike in the afternoon

Day 5 | Trek to Namche Bazaar – 6 to 7 hrs (9km)

A big day through forested valleys and over suspension bridges. We follow the Dudh Kosi upstream and begin a steep ascent into Namche Bazaar (3440m) - the legendary Sherpa village where we’ll get our first glimpse of Everest. You’ll feel the elevation shift, but the sense of arrival is unforgettable.

Day 6 | Acclimatisation hike above Namche Bazaar

To support acclimatisation, we stay another night in Namche. Today includes a hike to higher ground, with incredible views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and neighbouring peaks. You'll visit the national park museum and Sherpa culture centre, then spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring the village.

Day 7 | Trek to Tengboche – 5 to 6 hrs (10km)

We descend through rhododendron forests before climbing to Tengboche (3870m), a spiritual heart of the Khumbu. Along the way, expect sweeping views of Everest and its towering neighbours. At the top, we visit Tengboche Monastery - serene, sacred, and set against the vastness of the Himalayas.

Day 8 | Trek to Dingboche – 5 to 6 hrs (9km)

We cross alpine rivers and pass through Pangboche, the oldest Sherpa village in the valley. The trail climbs steadily through the Imja Valley, with Ama Dablam rising beside us. At 4410m, Dingboche welcomes us with stone-walled fields and a panorama of Himalayan giants.

Day 9 | Acclimatisation hike around Dingboche

Today we climb high to support the body’s adaptation to altitude. Depending on group energy, we may reach 5000m before returning to Dingboche. It’s a physical and mental checkpoint that sets you up for the days ahead. The afternoon invites rest, reflection and coffee in the mountain sun.

Day 10 | Trek to Lobuche – 5 to 6 hrs (7km)

We move through a high glacial valley toward Dughla, then climb steeply to Chupki Lhara - home to moving memorials for climbers lost on Everest. From there, we continue past the Khumbu Glacier, surrounded by dramatic peaks, and arrive at Lobuche (4900m) for the night - one step closer to base camp.

Day 11 | Trek to Gorakshep (3 hrs). Visit EBC

We begin with a 3-hour trek to Gorakshep (5140m), our base for the day. After a short rest, we continue to Everest Base Camp (5364m), crossing rocky terrain and glacial moraine. Standing at the base of the world’s highest peak is a moment few forget. After photos and celebration, we return to Gorakshep to rest.

Day 12 | Summit Kala Patar. Heli to Gokyo Lakes & Kathmandu

A pre-dawn start takes us up Kala Patar (5550m) for the most iconic close-up view of Everest. After descending, we board a private helicopter for an unforgettable flight over Chola Pass, and landing in the Gokyo Lakes region. You’ll return to Kathmandu that afternoon - back at your hotel, full of stories to tell.

Day 13 | Free day in Kathmandu. Farewell Dinner

No alarms. Just rest, recovery, and celebration. Book a massage, dip in the pool, or visit your favourite café. That evening, we reunite for a heartfelt farewell dinner with our Nepalese guides - reflecting on the mountains we’ve explored together.

Day 14 | Free day in Kathmandu. Optional tours

A final free day to explore Kathmandu at your own pace. Pick up souvenirs, visit a hidden temple, or just enjoy one last rooftop coffee with a view. Optional day tours available for those who want to explore more of the valley.

Day 15 | Depart Kathmandu. Private airport transfer

Your adventure may be ending, but the mountains and the tribe you shared them with stay with you. A private transfer takes you to the airport at your preferred time. You came seeking adventure. You leave with perspective, purpose, a story that’s yours - and your tribe for life.

What to take

To help you conserve energy and enjoy every step, a porter will carry your main duffel bag throughout the trek. You’ll hike with a lightweight day pack (approx. 4–7kg) carrying just your essentials - water, snacks, and extra layers for warmth or rain. A detailed packing list will be provided at the start of your training, plus expert guidance on what to bring, how to pack, and how to keep your load light.
